ENGINEERING IN DELHI...RANKING THE COLLEGES

Well..there's no matching the IIT-D. But here's something to keep things ticking!!!
A +Grade
NSIT - A sister concern of Delhi College of Engineering, with the same entrance exam, it is the preferred choice for toppers. The campus is located in far off Dwarka. Connectivity has increased with the advent of the metro. Boasts of Moksha, the second biggest cultural fest after IIT D. Attracts excellent companies for recruitment.
DCE - The oldest engineering college in Delhi. It has a solid reputation, and has one of the toughest entrances outside the IITs. However, several faculty posts are lying vacant. Last year, it attracted the likes of Google, Yahoo and Siemens for placement. A lush campus in Shahbad Daulatpur makes it a haven for sports as well as nature lovers.
___________________________________________________________________
A Grade
Jamia Milia, Faculty of Engineering and Technology - Rigorous academics, good placements, but limited seats. --------------------------------------...
B + Grade
IP University - University School of Information Technology (USIT) offers an M.Tech (Integrated) five and half year course after 10+2. More famous for the University School of Chemical Technology which is one of the few of departments of repute outside IITs. However, shortage of faculty and less number of seats are problems.
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology [MAIT] located in the secluded, and serene environment of Rohini, sector 22 has emerged as the top college under the IPU tag of late. Nice infrastructure, good labs and teachers and ofcourse the students.:-) Good placement records wid some elite IT companies like IBM visiting the campus is another thing to look out for...
Bharatiya Vidyapeeth College Of Engineering[BVCOE] located at Paschim Vihar, it has been the flag bearer of GGSIPU. Retired profs from the more elite colleges and some renowned faculty of their own, makes this a preferred destination of those who can't make it to DCE/ NSIT. A good placement cell but no hostel.
Institute of Mgmt and Tech, Gurgaon - This is one of the preferred colleges for Delhiites as it is located very close to the border. Also a management institute, this is one of the flag bearers of the Haryana CET colleges.
JSS Academy of Technical Education: It is one of the older institutes in NOIDA. It is affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University and a top choice under UPCET. JSS has decent faculty, good labs, and library and hostel facilities for girls and boys. Placement also rocks. It is one of the best private colleges.
Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, NOIDA - It's a deemed university. The college has a good infrastructure and student facilities. It follows an innovative grading system and is project oriented. The placement is good.
Choturam Arya College of Engg, Sonepat - Is one of the better colleges in Haryana, after NIT Kurukshetra. It’s famous for its core branches of Mechanical and Civil Engg. YMCA, Faridabad - A college known for its facilities and faculty, though the student base is not necessarily the best. This year, the likes of Sapient and the very coveted Adobe came to recruit students for jobs. The extensive curriculum makes it a worthwhile experience.
____________________________________________________________________
B Grade
Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology: Being a minority institution, it attracts a lot of Sikh students. It has a good library, and the computer centre is also equipped with the best facilities. The cramped campus in Hari Nagar looks more like a primary school than an engineering college. But reasonable placements and an experienced faculty add up to the total package. Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Tech - The campus is located in the far flung sector 22 of Rohini, a better deal than the old campus located at Sultanpuri! Again, the flourishing IT sector means a lot of jobs with decent starting packages. Galgotia's College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida A college which is coming up, boasts of good results placement. Amity School of Engg and Tech - Their status was challenged for a year when it ran out of Amity Intl. School. Then they shifted to a 3 floored residential area campus in Brijwasan Area of south west Delhi located 5 kms from the airport. The classrooms and labs are quite small. Reasonable placements from the likes of Infosys and TCS make it a worthwhile option.
Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Tech - One of the newer colleges, the campus is located at C-4 Janakpuri and is quite decent when compared to the other private colleges in the north. Also has other facilities running from the same campus, which make it a hotchpotch of sorts.
PD Memorial College, Bahadurgarh - The usual run of the mill college, located just outside the border. Attracts students from Delhi, especially the west Delhi area due to the proximity. Ok placements.

C Grade
Guru Premsukh Memorial College of Engineering - Their image took a hit when AICTE withheld its approval for a year. After operating from a small and highly cramped 3 floor facility in Sector 13, Rohini, the campus has shifted to another cramped area near the Sonepat bypass. Not quite the place to be.

all the best!!!!

RAMAYANA--by BILL GATES

When Bill Gates was in India, he had a chance 2 listen Ramayana from Vajpayee.
After returning 2 US he wrote it in his personal Diary which has been recently found (courtesy PTI). These are excerpts from his diary:
RAMAYANA

by Bill Gates...
LAN, LAN ago, in the SYSTEM of I/O-dhya, there ruled a PROCESSOR named DOS-rat. Once he EXECUTED a great sacrifice PROGRAM after which his queens gave an OUTPUT of four SUNs - RAM, LSIman, BUG-rat and SED-rughana. RAM the eldest was a MICROCHIP with excellent MEMORY. His brothers, however, were only PERIPHERAL ICs. Once when RAM was only 16MB, he married princess C ta. 12years passed and DOS-rat decided to INSTALL RAM as his successor. However,Queen CIE/CAE(Kayegayee), who was once offered a boon by DOS-rat for a lifesaving HELP COMMAND, took this opportunity at the instigation of her BIOSed maid and insisted that her son Bug-rat be INSTALLED and that RAM be CUT-N-PASTED to the forest for 14 years. At this cruel and unexpected demand, a SURGE passed through DOS-rat and he CRASHED like unstable version of AI MSN does in intel.
RAM agreed to LOG INTO forest and C ta insisted to LOGIN with him. LSI-man also resolved on LOGGING IN with his brother. The forest was the dwelling of SPARCnakha, the TRAN-SISTOR of RAW-van, PROCESSOR of LAN-ka. Attracted by RAM, she proposed that he should marry her. RAM, politely declined, perceiving C ta to be his SOURCE CODE. She hastened to kill her but LSI-man cut her inportant PERIPHERALS. Weeping, SPARC-nakha fled to LAN-ka, where RAW-van, moved by TRAN-SIS TOR s plight, approached his uncle MAR-icha. MAR-icha REPROGRAMED himself to form a golden stag and drew RAM deep into the forest. Finally, RAM shot the deer, which, with his last breath, cried out for LSI-man in voice of RAM s SOUND CARD. Fooled by this VIRTUAL RAM SOUND, C ta urged LSI-man to his brother s aid. Catching the opportunity, RAW-van DELINKED C ta from her LIBRARY and changed her ROOT DIRECTORY to LAN-ka.
-----------------------------------------------------------------INTERVAL----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RAM and LSI-man started SEARCHING for the missing C ta all over the forest. They made friendship withthe forest SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Akshat sorry... SU-greev and his powerful co-processor Ha-NEUMAN. who agreed to help RAM. SU-greev ordered his PROGRAMMERS to use powerful SEARCH techniques learnt in CS130 to FIND the missing C ta. His PROGRAMMERS SEARCHED allaround the INTER-NETworked forests. Many tried to EXCITE the birds and animals not to forget the WEBCRAWLERS (Insects) and tried to INFOSEEK something about C ta. Some of them even shouted YAA-HOO but they all ended up with NO FOUND MESSAGES Google, Lycos nothing was left untouched. The only thing they forgot was to mail iitcse01 & get PTI s help. Ha-NEUMAN then devised a RISCy TECHNOLOGY and used it to cross the seas at an astonishing CLOCK SPEED. Soon Ha-NEUMAN DOWNLOADED himself into LAN-ka. Ha-NEUMANfound C ta under a brown - green (as Brahma will call it) TREE STRUCTURE Ha-NEUMAN used the LOGIN ID (ring) to identify himself to C ta. After DECRYPTING THE KEY, C ta asked him to send STATUS_OK MESSAGE to RAM.
Meanwhile all raakshasa BUGS around C ta captured Ha-NEUMAN to DELETE him using everything includingCtrl-Alt-Del. But Ha-NEUMAN spread chaos by spreading VIRUS Fire . Ha-NEUMAN pressed ESCAPE from LAN-kaand & conveyed all the STATUS MESSAGES to RAM and SU-greev. RAW-wan decided to take RAM head-on. One of the RAW-wan s SUN almost DELETED LSI-man with a Brahma -astra. But Ha-NEUMAN resorted to some ACTIVE-Xgradients and REFORMATTED LSI-man. RAM used the SOURCE CODE secrets of RAW-wan and wiped out RAW-wan s presence on earth. Later, RAM got INSTALLED in I/O-dhya and spreaded his USER FRIENDLY PROGRAMS to all USERS and everyone lived happily ever after, playing & enjoying AOE......

STILL TWO MORE TO GO!!!!

Pheeew!!! The journey began bout 2 years back. Parents said, "Beta..U got to crack JEE-2008! So, start working hard from now itself"! And why not...I took everything seriously and ve been studying the hell out since then. But the BOTTOM-LINE...I think I ve screwed JEE-2008, and now my only hope is DCE/NSIT or BITS. [leaving IP for the worse]!
Well its the dilemma faced not only by me, but tons of people around. Arey yaar..I mean IIT is not the end of the journey to success!!! I know people who have joined IIT, graduated and what the hell..see wat they are doing..Getting into a prestigious institution like IITs is really kewl..but!!! Success means an overall well integrated success..IIT me ho gaya, that doesnt mean that you will be successfull all your life..Arey yaar zindagi ki race me jeetne ke liye "lambi race ka ghoda hona zaruri hai"!!!
U need to respect everyone around, u need to win everyone's heart, u need to tackle the adversities of life with bravery!!! As in my first article, I ve written 4500 out of 3.2 lac will qualify in IIT this year..Wat bout the rest 50-60,000 serious ones??
Zindagi khatm ho gai kya unke liye??
Koi saala kitna hi JEE qualify kar le, crores ke package le le, but see what you guys will be in the end of ur life!!!
so my friends..who fail to qualify JEE-08 this year..there are hell lot of options available..is saal nai..to agle saal hi sahi..but never ever lose ur heart!!!
To those who think of dropping an year..take my advice:::dont even think bout it!!!
Join whatever u get nd prepare for JEE-09 side by side.
Hope this article helps everyone!!!!!!!

DEDICATED TO TRUE FRIENDSHIP AND ALL MY FRIENDS [includin my "bad wishers"]!!!

Friendship isn't always easily described. The Eskimos, they say, have a hundred different words for snow. Unfortunately, the English language isn't quite as innovative, though it has vast opportunities to differentiate meaning. Certainly, Love is one of those opportunities. And so, too, is Friendship.
Instead of different words, however, we're stuck with simple adjectives. Close friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.
Friends are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience)
dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.

Here's a gr8 poem dedicated to our friendship:::

"always there for you"

When you are sad,

and you feel you can't go on.

Tears well in your eyes

and the pain is so strong.

So far from your friends,

and you're all on your own.

No-one to run to,

So very alone. When all seems so useless,

and you can't take anymore.

As you put on your coat,

and head for the door.

Remember.......I was there once,

lost, all alone

You can cry in my ear,

Just pick up the phone.

When you are lonely and feeling so blue

Someone is thinking ...thinking of you !!!:-)

Are marks the true aspect of judging a persons abilities???

Can Marks really judge a student??
Well, merely by looking at the heading, most of you must have already guessed correctly about the matter in this blog.
Let’s start with an example-
A student called Mr. A. Passed his XII in 2008, a so called IIT aspirant (nowadays anyone who wants to be an engineer is called an IIT aspirant). Has already written many competitive exams like JEE, AIEEE, BITSAT, Manipal, VITEEE etc.
He is sitting in his room, trying to crack a hardcore physics problem. His dad surfing the internet, actually public portals meant for students and going through the posts in which different students from all over the country have posted the marks obtained/calculated by them in different competitive exams.
Just then A shouts on top of his voice “Yes, Yes. I did it. I cracked one of the toughest problems of mechanics which none of my friends could crack.”(I will mention about these friends later in this post)
Dad: Why are you shouting so loudly?? Its OK if you have cracked this problem but lemme tell you one thing. You don’t stand anywhere in comparison to different students all over the country.
A: Huh??? What do you mean by that???
Dad: come here and see the marks calculated by these students. This guy is getting 323 in BITSAT, he is getting 366, he is getting 320 and look at this guy, he is getting a mammoth 412. And look at your score. A paltry 295.
A: But dad, I have already told you a hundred times that it was not my fault. The chemistry portion was too much knowledge based and a lot of questions asked the information not given in the chemistry books I have.
Dad: Whatever!!! You always have an excuse. Alright then, look at their AIEEE and IITJEE scores. Most of them in 200s and some of them even crossing 250. And look at your scores. AIEEE-165 and IITJEE-182.
A: (was just about to speak but suddenly stops himself because he knew that his explanations will be of no use. Instead of making his dad understand his situation, they would only serve as excuses given by him for his poor performance)
Now something about A. No need to mention that he is a genius in physics and loves this subject but on the other hand, he is not so good in maths and poor in chemistry.
It’s a fact that we are all human beings and not robots and you can’t expect everyone to be perfect in all the 3 subjects. A’s case is not much different. He has a genius’ mind but as he is not that good in chemistry, he could not score well in his competitive exams and might end up with very poor ranks in almost all of them.
So does it mean that he is not intelligent, he is not studious, he is not hardworking?? Do these marks give any idea of his intelligence, hard work and dedication?? If he is getting low marks in BITSAT just because the chemistry questions asked the info he did not have in his books, does it mean that he doesn’t stand anywhere??
And now about his friends, almost all of them are getting marks higher than him in all the exams but none of them is able to do hardcore physics problems which A can do quite easily. But just because his friends will get a higher rank and higher scores in exams, does it mean that they are more intelligent, more hard working, more studious??
Well, a better question is-Can an exam judge a person in just 3 hours?? Is it possible to judge someone’s intelligence, I.Q., determination, sincerity etc in 3 hours?? Is it possible to judge the amount of hard work put in by anyone for whole 2 years in just 3 hours?? Who knows what happens in those 3 hours. There are several reason due to which many deserving people can’t get a seat in one of the India’s most prestigious institution.
What are those reasons??
Lemme take one more example. This time I will call this guy Mr. B.
His strongest subject-Chemistry and he is pretty decent in Maths and physics at least to the extent of clearing the cut-offs in the exams. He was pretty confident of getting a seat in IIT. But fate had something else in store for him.
To his bad luck, his family was full of IITians and people with excellent academic achievements/records. So the pressure of performing well automatically came upon him.
To add to his bad luck, his elder cousin got a rank of 52(rank changed to hide the identity but it is very close to the original rank) in JEE-07. Now his family’s expectations from him and pressure on him increased manifolds. Right from declaration of results of JEE-07 to JEE-08, the pressure kept on increasing constantly because of his family members who kept reminding him of their expectations from him.
And lemme tell you, his miseries are not over yet. He has a competitor also. His cousin brother, who has always been ahead of him in academics, has also given JEE this year. So now B has an extra pressure to perform better than his cousin.
So now, I hope that most of you can estimate the amount of pressure on B. And this pressure told upon his JEE-08. As soon as he got the question paper, his hands were literally trembling. He broke the seal of the question paper, saw the first question and imagine what? He was not able to recall even a single formula. He had to derive most of the formulae there only and that consumed most of his time. So this way, he messed up his first paper.
In the next sitting, the pressure was even higher as he had messed up his first paper but this time he was more determined to do well. He started off pretty well doing a majority of chemistry questions and some maths questions also but then he stuck some physics questions and the pressure started building again. He somehow managed to do the second paper better than the first one but his total marks are no where near the expected cut-offs.
So, you can clearly see that a deserving student who was confident of getting a rank in top 2000 in IITJEE would now hardly get any rank + his parent’s disappointment + embarrassment in front of his academically great relatives. And he was not faulty anywhere in his preparations. He is a mentally strong person but after all he is a human being and under such circumstances and pressure, a mental breakdown is not surprising.
Well, it is just one of the numerous reasons. I think this much is sufficient to start with. I will keep posting more such reasons and examples.
And lemme make it very clear that these examples are not my mind’s creation. These are real life examples of my friends, and different students I have come across till now. And to hide their identity I am using names like Mr. A, Mr. B.
I wanted a platform to express my views and that’s why I started this blog.
I can assure you one thing that you will surely find yourself in one of the examples I have posted so far /will be posting in future.
Now I am looking forward to your views. So feel free to express your views.
Can an exam judge a student’s real potential in 3 or 6 hours??? Are marks the only criteria which differentiate intelligent/deserving students with dumb people?? Is the selection of few thousand students out of lakhs on the basis of a 3 hour test justified??
